In this guide, we will go over the step-by-step process of how to update your BOLT’s firmware to the latest version. First, let’s go over what you will need for a successful update.
PREREQUISITES
To update your firmware, you will need:
The latest build of FNATIC OP: https://fnatic.com/gear/op
BOLT mouse
USB-C charging cable
USB extender
Wireless USB receiver (dongle)
Extra USB-C cable (optional)
Two empty USB ports on your PC’s motherboard
UPDATE PROCESS
Confirm you aren’t already on the latest firmware version
Connect your dongle to the USB extender and connect it to your PC
Turn your BOLT mouse on and into 2.4GHz mode
Open FNATIC OP and select “BOLT Dongle”
A prompt will appear if an update is needed. If no prompt appears, you are on the latest version and do not need to proceed with the following steps.
Begin firmware update process
Connect your dongle to the USB extender and connect it to your PC
Turn your BOLT mouse on and into 2.4GHz mode
Click the FNATIC OP icon on your desktop to open the application
With your mouse and cable still connected and OP open, click “BOLT Dongle”
You will be prompted to connect both the mouse and dongle.
Connect your extra USB-C cable to your PC.
Insert the USB-C end of the cable into your BOLT mouse.
If you do not have an extra USB-C cable, simply remove the dongle from the extender and plug it into your PC.
Disconnect the extender from the cable
Plug the cable into your BOLT mouse
FNATIC OP will now show two options - “BOLT Dongle” and “BOLT.” Select either option.
Click “Upgrade”
At this point, the update process has started. You will hear several Windows audio prompts which resemble a USB connection and disconnection action. Let the update finish without turning off your BOLT or disconnecting the cable or dongle.
After a successful update, FNATIC OP will close itself.
Disconnect the cable from the mouse and connect the dongle to the USB extender
Click the FNATIC OP icon on your desktop to open the application
Click “BOLT Dongle”
Click “Device Info” and check for the current version: v0.81.2
Done!
If for any reason you're not able to update the firmware this way, please try to update your BOLT mouse the same way on another PC.
